Arabic hadith text

عَنْ أَبِي شُرَيْحٍ رضي الله عنه أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ:

عَنْ أَبِي شُرَيْحٍ رضي الله عنه أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «وَاللَّهِ لاَ يُؤْمِنُ، وَاللَّهِ لاَ يُؤْمِنُ، وَاللَّهِ لاَ يُؤْمِنُ»، قِيلَ: وَمَنْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ: «الَّذِي لاَ يَأْمَنُ جَارُهُ بَوَايِقَهُ».

English translation

Abu Shurayh (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said:

Abu Shurayh (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Allah, he does not believe. By Allah, he does not believe. By Allah, he does not believe." It was said: Who, O Messenger of Allah? He said: "The one whose neighbor is not safe from his evils."

Explanation of the hadith

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) swore and confirmed his oath three times, saying: By Allah, he does not believe. By Allah, he does not believe. By Allah, he does not believe. The Companions asked him: Who does not believe, O Messenger of Allah? He replied: The one whose neighbor fears his treachery, oppression, and evil.
